THE FOUR THEMES OF MAYFIELD’S GOVERNANCE COURSES

RISK

Participants do a deep-dive on the risk management process, including risk tolerance, risk appetite and an analysis of a risk matrix.

We look at the top 10 trending global risks and the role of the audit and risk committee.

LEGAL

We explain a director’s obligations to the Companies Act, Resource Management Act, Building Act, the Health and Safety Act, and the Treaty of Waitangi.

STRATEGY

Participants learn about the role of the board in strategy, and how to develop and implement strategies alongside management. We use case studies with a focus on different types of strategies.

We look at how a board’s relationship with management can influence the culture of an organisation.

FINANCE

Participants review annual reports and learn how to read the numbers to get a gauge on a business’ performance.

We look at the information directors need to focus on to get a full view of the company and how it’s operating year on year.
